Story
AI is leaving the data centre.
Why we started
We think the future of AI is physical. Intelligence won’t only live in a chat window. It will run cars, robots, cameras, sensors and the software agents that act for us.
Those machines need answers in milliseconds, and they need them close by. Big central campuses weren’t built for that. They were built to train models in one place, not to serve millions of devices spread across a country.
So we’re building the inference edge. Different kinds of node, on sites that already have power, working as one system. Central campuses still matter. They train the models. Our network runs them, close to the people and machines that use them.
Holding it together is our operating system. It runs any model on any chip, and serves each request from the best-placed node. Not only ours. As we grow, other providers will plug their capacity into the same network.
It’s also the lightest way to build. No new concrete. No new buildings. No digging. Our sites are air cooled, so they use no water for cooling. People living nearby won’t notice a new site going live.
Moving power is wasteful. Moving a request costs almost nothing. So we move the request.
What we saw
Grid queues past 2030.
Most of the UK’s queued demand won’t connect before 2030.
Capital stranded on forecasts.
When a customer walks away, the building stays.
Contracts that lock you in.
Five years or more, before customers know what they’ll need.
A heavy footprint.
New land, new concrete, water for cooling.
Communities saying no.
Councils and residents are pushing back on large new sites.
Built for training, not for what’s next.
Physical AI needs answers next door.
Sovereignty in name only.
Real sovereignty goes down to the nation, the region and the city.
